Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is jointly organised by the public administration, business world and various organisations. It is held annually in February.

Its goal is to improve citizens’ awareness of the opportunities offered by the internet as well as the related information security threats and means of protection against these threats. Safer Internet Day is particularly geared towards providing information to primary school pupils as well as their teachers and parents.

The objective of Safer Internet Day and activities throughout the school year is to have information security and safe internet use feature prominently in schools and to ensure that children take this information home with them. Another goal is to make the subject of information security part of primary school students’ long-term information society education in schools and in the home.

At the same time, small and medium-sized businesses and home internet users are reminded of safe internet use.
