Meeting an online friend

If your child makes a new friend online, he or she may want to meet with that friend face to face. Although the online friendship may have continued for some time, you should be careful. Meeting online friends may, in some cases, lead to child abuse even though most such meetings are harmless fun. It is best for the child’s parent to go along for the first meeting, which should be arranged in a public place such as a cafe. Agreement on this matter should be reached with the child in advance.
